KARACHI, Oct 6: Sindh governor Mohammedmian Soomro has approved the orders for educational institutions in the province, recommended by the minister for education, Prof Anita Ghulam Ali, which include cancellation of admission of absentee students and removal of such teachers from service.

The orders issued by the education minister said every student of the schools and colleges maintained by the government shall have to complete 75 per cent attendance, failing which the examination forms would not be forwarded to the board of education concerned or admission of the student be cancelled.

Principals and head masters have to send a monthly record of attendance of the students of their colleges, schools and institutes to the district officer concerned and the registrar of university, chairman board of education concerned in the first week of every month.

In case of appeal in this regard, the committee consisting of university registrar, chairman, board of education and district officer concerned may decide the matter and their decision shall be final.

Those teachers found irregular and remaining absent from duties and classes and the principals who do not implement the orders of the government regarding absentee teachers and students shall be dealt under the removal from service ordinance 2000.

On the report of the principal or any inspecting officer concerned or committee constituted by the department, the delinquent employee may be served a show cause notice with a major penalty including termination from service.—PPI
