KARACHI, Feb 14: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal will inaugurate a Town Education Development Center (TEDC) on the premises of the Gulbai High School, Liaquatabad, on Friday.

This will be the first of 36 TEDCs being established across the metropolis to bring about an improvement in the CDGK-run schools and monitor their affairs, a statement issued by the city government on Wednesday said.

The objectives for establishing such centres are to improve status of the schools, ensure education standards, impart proper training to teachers and convince parents to get their children enrolled in these schools for better education.

For the purpose, the city nazim had earlier set up the ‘Committee for Monitoring and Improvement of Schools (CMIS)’ at his secretariat. Under the programme, 36 TEDCs were being established at CDGK-run schools in all 18 towns of the metropolis. A computer lab, library and dispensary will also be set up at all such schools, said the statement.—Staff Reporter
