KARACHI, Feb 14: Low shipping activity was witnessed at the port where one ship carrying chemicals was allotted berth at Engro Vopak terminal during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release.

Berth occupancy remained at 60 per cent at the port where a total of six ships occupied berths to load, unload containers, rice, edible oil, chemicals and coal, respectively, during the report period.

The port handled 62,835 tons, comprising 33,653 tons of imports and 29,182 tons of export inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1,684 containers (Teus) during the period under review.

Four ships were at the outer anchorage on Tuesday. They are: Mater Nicos (rice); Al Mirqab (container); Gaz Channel (LPG) and Capt. Georrge-1 (iron ore).

Three ships sailed out to the sea during the report period.
