Youth killed by friend

LAHORE, Feb 13: A youth was shot dead allegedly by his friend following a scuffle in Wahdat Colony area on Tuesday.

Police said Muhammad Usman Baig, 22, a resident of Kacha Ranwan Road, Rehmanpura, had an argument with Imran alias Mana of Icchra over some issue on Wednesday night.

During arguments, Usman slapped Imran.

On Tuesday evening, when Usman reached the doorstep of his house on a bike, Imran opened fire and escaped, leaving him in a pool of blood.

The injured died in Services hospital.

The police removed the body to the city mortuary for autopsy while a case was registered against the accused on the complaint of Adeel Baig, the deceased’s brother.

ACCIDENTS: A truck driver was killed in a collision between two trucks in North Cantonment area on Tuesday morning.

Police said truck driver Shahid (LWC-1474) of Batapur struck his vehicle against another truck (LXT-7682) at Afshan Chowk. He was killed on the spot while truck driver Maqsood Masih was taken into custody.

In another incident, Muhammad Qadeer, 60, was crossing GT Road in Daroghawala when motorcyclist Shabbir, a resident of Batapur, hit him.

Qadeer died on the spot while Shabbir received minor injuries. Police have arrested the injured.

SUICIDE: An unidentified 30-year-old man committed suicide by jumping from an electricity pole in Islampura area on Tuesday morning.

Police said according to eyewitnesses, the person appeared near Bank Stop on Bund Road, climbed on the pole, jumped from it and died instantly.

SUFFOCATED: A labourer died from suffocation owing to a gas leak in Shafeeqabad area on Tuesday.

Police said Abid Husain, 30, was asleep by switching on a gas heater in his room on Rashid Road and died.
