KARACHI, Feb 13: The Turkish government is keen to invest in development projects, particularly coal mining sector, in Pakistan.

This was stated by Turkish Consul General Erdem Mataf during a meeting with Sindh Minister for Mines and Minerals Irfanullah Khan Marwat on Tuesday.

Briefing the diplomat on coal, granite, and marble reserves in Sindh, the minister welcomed the offer and assured him of assistance in this regard. He said the foreign investment would generate employment opportunity and benefit people of the province.

Later, the minister visited a site in Azam Basti, where a 50-bed hospital would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs90 million.

Irfanullah Khan Marwat said the project was improved as earlier there was no hospital in the locality. Due to non-availability of vacant land in the area, the hospital would be built after demolition of the urban health centre this month.

He said the hospital would provide the local population with dental, orthopaedics, gynae and cardio facilities.

The minister said the building for setting up new government girls college in Manzoor Colony had been completed with Rs70 million which will start functioning from the next academic year while another building was under construction for setting up technical college in the locality.
