MIRPURKHAS, Feb 10: Staff of Khokhropar and Munabao railway stations have started taking measure for stay and departure of the Thar Express train at the railway stations as the train service between Pakistan and India will resume from February 17.

The train service, after a six-month journey, was suspended on August 18 last year on the request of the Indian government as railway tracks were damaged between Munabao and Jodhpur due to heavy rains. Owing to suspension of the train service, travellers from Sindh have been compelled to go to India through Wagah border.

Following a decision of the two governments to resume the service, railway authorities in Mirpurkhas and Munabao received directives for updating facilities at the two railway stations railway from the higher authorities on Saturday.

Khokhropar railway station master Mohammed Sabir confirmed that he had received the directives from the divisional superintendent of Pakistan Railways in Karachi. An official of the Mirpurkhas railway control office said that the train would run according to its old schedule.
