ISLAMABAD, Feb 9: Federal Education Minister Lt-Gen (R) Javed Ashraf Qazi has contested the findings of finance division that 100 per cent teachers in the country’s public sector primary and middle schools are trained.

“It just can’t be possible,” the education minister said when his comments were sought on the findings of finance ministry in its annual report on poverty reduction.

The Punjab government has recruited 25,000 new teachers in a year and how can all of them be trained, the minister questioned.

“New subjects, besides English as compulsory, have been introduced from class I, for which teachers are being recruited, said the minister, adding, old figures might have been quoted on the web”.
