Rangers Gym thrash Buffer Zone Eaglets

KARACHI, Feb 9: Rangers Gymkhana advanced to the super league stage of the NBP-KCCA Inter Club Championship with an emphatic eight-wicket win over Buffer Zone Eaglets at the Asifabad Ground here on Thursday.

Batting first, Buffer Zone Eaglets were bowled out for 74 in the 26th over with off-spinner Saif Ashraf grabbing three wickets for 31. Rangers Gymkhana, in reply, coasted to an eight-wicket win in the tenth over. Asif Marwat hit three fours in his unbeaten 32.

Meanwhile, Cantt Sports overpowered Airport Stars by 45 runs despite a fighting 79 from Ishtiaque Ghauri. Left-arm spinner Babar Qureshi captured 4-22 to spin his team to victory at the Airport Stadium.

Salman Niazi hit 71 with nine fours and Mohammad Imran got 54 with six hits to the boundary as Cantt Sports mustered 274-9 in their 40 overs.

Airport Stars, in response, could manage 229-9 off the 40 overs.
