LAHORE, Feb 9: The Majlis-i-Shoora of the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) began a three-day meeting at its headquarters, Mansoora, on Friday.
“We will not let the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) weaken and all conspiracies against the religious alliance will be frustrated,” JI amir Qazi Hussain Ahmad told reporters after the first session of the meeting.
Ahmad said that the shooras’ decision to quit assemblies would subject to the approval of the MMA supreme council.
He said the MMA must remain united as it was facing many challenges and the biggest of them was to rid the country of military regime. He said the JI had begun consultation on the issue of resigning from assemblies.
This is the first meeting of the newly-elected policy-making body and its members took oath of the office.
