LARKANA, Feb 6: The SSP crime, Sukkur, Abdul Ahad Sangri, on Tuesday restarted inquiry into an incident of chopping off sensitive part of a cook, Hazoor Bakhsh Malik, in the lock up of the Market police station.

The SSP was accompanied by SP, investigation, Larkana, Nisar Channa, and the DSP, crime, Sukkur.

Mr Sangri visited the site of the incident and recorded the statement of Head Constable (Munshi) Rabnawaz Mangi.

The police control room was not informed about the incident on that day, the munshi said and added he had informed the then SHO of the police station, Khan Tunio, at his residence.

Khan Tunio, ASI Aftab Abbasi and four unidentified cops nominated in the FIR did not appear before the inquiry committee.

The munshi informed the investigating officers that after their suspension, the police officers had no communication with them and they had even switched-off their cells.

Mr Sangri told newsmen that the victim, despite ‘receiving’ messages, did not appear before the inquiry team. He should appear before the probe body in two days in Sukkur office for his statement, Mr Sangri added.

He asked the inspector of crime branch, Larkana, Mumtaz Janwri, to collect the record of the police control room of the day of the incident for furthering the investigation, as it could give some clue and help assist in arriving at the conclusion.

PROCESSION: Under the flag of Aurat Foundation and Khaksar Tehrik, a procession was taken out here on Tuesday, calling for the arrest of the alleged rapists of a school girl, Kainat Soomro.

Dr Sabhia Mughal of Khaksar Tehrik, Jawed Shah, Jamil Gaad and others led the protest. The rape victim Kainat Soomro and her father also participated in it.

The protestors assembled outside the district council hall. They criticized the government for its lukewarm attitude and indifferent behaviour of the police that had yet not arrested any of the accused nominated in the FIR.

“It is quite easy to pass women’s protection law but difficult to implement it, they said.

Addressing the participants, Ms Soomro sought justice and threatened self-immolation if her cries remained unheard. Ms Nargis Sultana of the MQM and other speakers pressed for early arrest of the accused.
