KARACHI, Feb 6: A studens organisation has criticised the provincial educational department’s decision to hold composite examination for Class IX and X this year.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday at the Karachi Press Club, Nazim IJT, Karachi Chapter, Syed Rasheed Akbar announced the launching of a protest drive against the composite examination system.

He also termed the federal education ministry’s interference in Sindh’s education affairs a violation of the constitution. He said the decision had been taken without consulting the stakeholders and caused unrest among students, teachers and parents.

Mr Akbar asked political parties and social figures, teachers representatives, parents and student bodies to join the campaign. He disclosed that a joint action committee would be formed on Thursday including the representatives of all stakeholders to mobilise public opinion against the composite exam system and pressurise the government to withdraw its decision.

Protest demonstrations, a signature drive, seminars, camps at public places and a rally of students of IX and X, their teachers and parents would be held, he added.

He said the government's decision of holding of composite exams was 'anti-education' and a conspiracy to deprive poor students of education. The composite examination system would badly affect the already waning education standard in the country, he added.
