Rail track blown up

DERA GHAZI KHAN, Feb 5: A portion of railway track on the Quetta-Multan section, in a high security zone near an installation of the Atomic Energy Commission, was blown up on Monday night.

It was described by officials as an act of sabotage.

Police said a bomb had been planted under the tracks which destroyed a three-foot portion of the railway track, causing suspension of traffic.

The explosion took place an hour before the arrival of the Lahore-bound Chiltan Express from Quetta.

The train was halted at the Jampur railway station, some 45km from here. After the blast, police and railway officials reached the place and started repairing the track.

It was the second explosion on railway tracks in the area.
