KARACHI, Feb 5: Residents of various localities of the city complained of frequent power suspensions on Monday, some of them saying they suffered a two-hour power breakdown on the previous night.

A resident of Nazimabad said that his locality experienced power failure thrice the same day, which affected business activities. He said the KESC should at least notify the timings of power suspension so that consumers could plan some other activities for the outage time.

Another complainant from Ittehad Town (Baldia) said that the supply lines in the streets were faulty, which often caused power breakdowns, but KESC staff in the local complaint offices were not taking measures to rectify the faulty cables and usually turned up very late.

Residents of Gulshan-i-Ghazi said that power supply was suspended on Sunday at 6pm and restored after 8pm, saying that staff at the local complaint office was also not responding to their telephone calls.

Complaints of power suspension were also received from Federal B Area, Orangi Town, Korangi, Landhi, Tariq Road, PECHS and Lyari.

Meanwhile, the KESC has announced another power shutdown for Tuesday (today) what it claimed to be for the purpose of system improvement and upgradation of the supply network.

The localities where power would remain suspended from 9am to 6pm are: Clifton block-8,4, Bath Island, Zamzama area, Defence Khayaban-i-Shaheen, Khayaban-i-Shujaat,Khayaban-i-Tauheed, North Nazimabad Blocks G and H, Pirabad, Baldia Town, New Saeedabad, Machhar Colony, Lyari, North Karachi sectors 6-B,12-D, PECHS blocks 3,6, Bahadurabad, Natha Khan Goth, Awami Colony, Korangi sectors 9,8,8-D,19,6-F, Marston Quarters, Azeempura, Millat Town, Malir, KDA Scheme-33, Karachi Water &Sewerage Board’s filter plant and residential colony on the Super Highway, Sohrab Goth, Gulshan-i-Iqbal blocks 4,6, Metrovill-3, Hadiabad Society, North Karachi sectors 5-G,5-F,6-B,11-H, Federal B block 22, Kiran hospital, Rizvia Society, Nazimabad 5-A area, Ziauddin hospital, Firdous Colony, Gulbahar, Ibrahim Ganj and Gulistan-i-Jauhar block 9, portion of Site, and Korangi Industrial Area sector 28.
