KARACHI, Feb 4: Sindh Revenue Minister Dr Irfan Gul Magsi has advised people that before booking any plot or farm house in any housing society, they should get it verified from the revenue department to protect their savings as there were complaints that some fake societies are indulging in fleecing people by booking plots below the market price.

Highlighting their modus vivendi, he said after taking advance payment from people such societies start development work only to stop it soon on the pretext that government departments created hurdles although they seldom have the NOC to carry out any development activity on the land.

Dr Magsi pointed out that the offices of many such societies established in Deh Manghopir, Deh Allah Fay, Deh Tesar were already demolished and the concrete boundary walls they had raised were razed to the ground. He said efforts were being made to eradicate corruption from the revenue department and secure government lands from grabbers.

The minister said after scrutiny of the land records over 1,050 fake entries were cancelled while 18,000 acres had been recovered from land mafia and their built-up walls were demolished.

He said he had full support of the chief minister in carrying out operation against land grabbers and restoring the government land to the department.
