KARACHI, Feb 2: The Mutahida Majlis-i-Amal condemning the government for failing to solve the real issues being faced by the masses has urged the people to vote for its candidate in the by-election of NA 250 so that he could highlight the issues being faced by them.
Speaking at a corner meeting at Burnes Road on Friday, the MMA leaders – Mairajul Huda Siddqui, MMA candidate for NA 250 Raja Arif Sultan and others – said that law and order had deteriorated and street crimes had touched new heights.
They said that a glaring example of the deteriorated law and order situation was the fact that despite being a major coalition partner in the Sindh government, having its governor and many ministers in the provincial cabinet, including the portfolio of home affairs, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain, fearing for his security, was not returning to Karachi.
They said it proved that all the claims made by the government regarding improved law and order situation were false. They said that the masses also felt insecure but had no option.
They said that similarly owing to poor economic policies while national assets, under the garb of privatisation, were being handed over to favoured people a large number of people had been sacked under different schemes like golden handshake, voluntary separation scheme etc.
They said that ever increasing inflation was making essential commodities expensive owing to which a large number of people were committing suicides. They said that the MMA with the support of masses would defeat these people who were taking dictates from the western countries and were working even against the religion by demolishing mosques and madressahs.
