RAWALPINDI, Feb 1: Leaders of the Muttahida Majlas Amal (MMA) lambasted the Kashmir policy of the government at a seminar - Kashmir issue: current situation and future strategy - held here on Thursday.

The MMA leaders, who spoke on the occasion, included city president Abdul Jalil Naqvi, MNA Mohammad Hanif Abbasi and Dr Mohammad Kamal.

They alleged that the government was deviating from the long stated policy of various governments on the Kashmir issue and claimed that change in the policy was the result of the international community’s pressure specially the USA.

Kashmiris were being subjected to unspeakable sufferings under the foreign occupation over more than fifty years but their sufferings would go waste if the issue is not solved in accordance of wishes of the people of the valley and UN resolutions, they said.

The leaders of the religious alliance demanded of the government to involve the true representatives of Kashmiri people in the dialogue and warned that any solution of the Kashmir issue that does not accommodate the wishes of Kashmiris and that is not in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations would not be acceptable to the religious alliance.

Speaking on occasion, MNA Mohammad Hanif Abbasi said that the government was on the path to take decisions regarding the Kashmir issue that were not expressive of the wishes of the people of the country.

He alleged that the so-called super-power was influencing the long stated kashmir policy. He claimed that Ali Shah Gilani was the real representative of the Kashmiri people but he was not being involved in the dialogue process.—Our Reporter
