KARACHI, Jan 31: Mohammad Shafiq, the under-trial prisoner who recently jumped from the second floor of the city court building, was produced in the court of a Judicial Magistrate, South. He was remanded in police custody till February 3.

The accused along with an accomplice, Jehangir, was arrested by the anti-dacoity cell of Boat Basin on January 10 on charge of dacoity and possessing unlicenced weapons. Shafiq managed to open his handcuffs and jumped from the courts building on January 24, resulting in serious injuries. He was shifted to civil hospital.

This correspondent saw the prisoner screaming in agony while the police and his relatives carried him to court in curtain cloth. The court directed the investigation officer to provide the accused all medical facilities.—A Reporter
