LAHORE, Jan 29: A law student was shot dead by unidentified people in Islampura on Monday morning. Police said Ehsanul Haq, 22, a resident of Chohan Road, was going on a motorcycle when some unidentified people intercepted him on Ghazi Road and opened fire on him.
Haq, who sustained a severe head injury, was rushed to Mayo Hospital where he died.
The motive behind the murder could not be ascertained, however, the police claimed that the victim had received the last call on his cell phone from a woman of his area who could be involved in the murder.
They said a wallet and two cell phones were recovered from his pockets.
The police have removed the body to the city morgue for autopsy and registered a case.
INJURED: Four people, including two women, were injured allegedly by rivals in the Batapur area on Monday.
Police said Mahmood Ahmad and Malik Wilayat, residents of Rampura new abadi, had a political rivalry and involved in litigation. Mahmood and his son were supporting Wilayat’s rival party.
On Monday, Wilayat’s brother Aslam and accomplices turned up at Mahmood’s house and opened fire on family members.
Mahmood, 36, Sabran Bibi, 65, Shahzad, 30 and Naseem Bibi, 20, received bullet injuries and were taken to Services Hospital from where they were referred to Mayo Hospital.
A teenaged girl, Sumaira Bibi, was injured when Aamir Butt and his accomplice opened fire on her in Sabzazar late Sunday night.
Sumaira told police that she was going to bazaar to buy some food at 8pm when Aamir and his accomplice asked her to sign a paper. On her refusal, they fired at her and escaped.
SUICIDE: A jobless youth committed suicide after taking poisonous pills in Manga Mandi on Monday.
Police said Tariq, 15, a resident of the Chowki Sundar area, had been in search of a job for the last one month, but in vain.
On Monday, his mother snubbed him over being jobless. He confined himself in a room and took poison.
FOUND DEAD: A man was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Harbanspura on Monday.
Police said the body of the man, who was later identified as Shahbaz, 30, was lying near a bridge and might have died of cold.
