KARACHI, Jan 29: A kidnapped child was recovered and his four captors were arrested in Quaidabad on Monday by a joint team of the Citizen-Police Liaison Committee and police.

The kidnappers, included a neighbour, had kidnapped seven-year-old Naveed Khan son of Fareed Khan on January 20 in Majid Colony. The kidnappers initially demanded Rs600,000 for the release of the boy, but later agreed to accept Rs320,000.

A CPLC official said the victim’s father had contacted the committee on January 23 and a case registered initially against unknown kidnappers. He said a joint team succeeded in locating the hideout of the kidnappers and arrested two of them, Tahir and Saqib.

The arrested men gave information which led to recovery of the victim and arrest of another kidnapper, Qasim, who was a neighbour of the victim’s family. Later, the police arrested another suspect, Afzal, for being involved in the kidnapping for ransom.
