Mumtaz vows to resist island sale

LARKANA, Jan 26: The chairman of Sindh National Front (SNF), Sardar Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, has said that Sindh Qaumi Ittehad (SQI), will split only due to the element of ego prevalent among the leadership of certain component parties.

Talking to newsmen at the residence of Mir Aamir Magsi in Shahdadkot on Friday, he said that the leaders of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) were accusing each other of working for the agencies. Such alliances could not run in the presence of agencies’ men, he said.

Responding to a question, he said that he was proud of completing the gigantic project of Port Qasim within two year’s record time while the rulers of today had failed to even construct a drain in seven year’s period.

About Sindh’s islands, he said that luxury centres would be established there and money through unfair means would be earned. The rulers had no right to allot these islands to foreign investors, he added.

Regarding ‘Ketti Mumtaz’ he said it was not an iron fort that police could not enter into and in the same breath accused the police of providing food and arms to the bandits.

Replying to another question, he termed action in Balochistan uncalled for and added that the rulers were applying the methods of British era.

He said that Akhtar Mengal was jailed because he stood for the rights of Balochistan.
