RAWALPINDI, Feb 19: A five-member team of National Reconstruction Bureau (NRB) will visit Rawalpindi district on Wednesday to scrutinize working of the district government, sources told Dawn on Tuesday.
The NRB team would hold indepth discussions with various stakeholders, including the opposition councillors, on the working of the district government during the past six months. The team would then undertake a visit to Gujar Khan tehsil to see the working of the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) there, the sources said.
The NRB team, comprising Maj-Gen Asif Bokhari, Brig Hafeezullah Khan, Shaigan Sharif Malik, Naeemul Haq and Syed Anwarul Hassan Bokhari, would meet the district government officials and elected representatives at the office of the district coordination officer.
The sources said that the agenda for discussions included services delivery and people’s satisfaction; relationship between the district administration and the TMA; the interference and influence factors and organization of health and education offices etc.
They said the NRB team would first hold a joint meeting with the elected representatives and officials of the district administration, then it would hold a conference with the Nazim and his team comprising chairmen of the district council committees and later a meeting with the district coordination officer and the executive district officer. The team would then proceed to Gujar Khan to review the performance of the tehsil administration.
Meanwhile, a group of opposition members in the district council claimed that the NRB had started this probe on their request as they felt that the district government was exceeding its mandate, therefore, there was a need to apply some checks on it.
