ISLAMABAD, Jan 25: Minister for Textile Industry Mushtaq Ali Cheema said on Thursday that the proposed Pakistan Textile City will be inaugurated next month in Karachi.

The minister stated this while reviewing progress of proposed textile city being established in Karachi. Federal textile secretary and other stakeholders attended the meeting.

An official announcement issued after the meeting said the minister directed that development work should be started from February and completed within two years or before.

He said all required infrastructures would be provided on the premises of this project for which all paper work had already been completed.

The concerned agencies would also be starting their work after the earth breaking ceremony, he said and added the booking of plots for investors would commence in the third quarter of this year.

Me Cheema said industrial plots would also be given to foreign investors besides the local investors.

He hoped that the proposed city project would upgrade Pakistan’s textile sector, which was under pressure at present due to open competition in the international market.

He said the private sector was working hard for upgrading the existing textile industries due to requirement of world market.

He said that the next meeting of the board would be held next week in Karachi to finalize arrangements.
