Harappa Police Station Sub-Inspector Swar Khan, Head Constable Amjad Hussain and constables Muhammad Abbas and Hakam Ali escorted five accused facing murder charge to the court of a judicial magistrate in Sahiwal. Taking advantage of police negligence, accused Ramzan fled.

Police registered cases against the four policemen and the escaped accused and arrested the policemen. The district police officer ordered an inquiry against the policemen.

On Nov 14, 2006, Ramzan and his accomplices allegedly killed Riaz in Chak 15-Tukra over a land dispute.

NAZIMS: The Sahiwal district assembly on Wednesday set up a committee to probe into alleged malpractice in the Sahiwal District Headquarters Hospital.

The house approved the recruitment of doctors and nurses. Union council nazims protested against a contractor accused of supplying substandard drips to the hospital.

They said the purchase committee was delaying the registration of case against the contractor. Nazims also walked out of the house in protest against the committee.

One nazim protested against ‘indecent’ the behaviour of traffic police on which the house directed the traffic police to stop undue checking of tractor trolleys. The house also approved the imposition of sewerage tax.
