Pakistan Movement veteran dies

ISLAMABAD, Jan 24: Syed Haroon Ebn Ali, a Pakistan Movement veteran and Commander (retired) of Pakistan Navy passed away in Islamabad on Wednesday morning.

He was 84 and died of pneumonia. He is survived by his wife, one daughter and two sons. His funeral procession will be taken from his residence, 3-A Karakuram Blessings, Sector F-11/1. He will be laid to rest at the Islamabad Graveyard on Thursday.

Commander Ebn Ali, the former head of UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (ESCAP) was a recipient of Sitara-i-Basalat and Tamgha-i-Imtiaz.

Author of the book, Unchartered Waters, Commander Ali actively participated in Pakistan Movement and was also awarded Tehreek-i-Pakistan Gold Medal.
