LAHORE, Jan 22: All-rounder Abdul Razzaq will be testing his match-fitness this week when he takes the field for Lahore Ravi against Quetta in the fourth round of Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Silver League match tomorrow.

Razzaq, a veteran of 46 Tests and 224 One-day Internationals, missed the ongoing Test series against South Africa due to a calf injury sustained during the home series against the West Indies last month.

Talking to Dawn on Monday soon after resuming his bowling at the National Cricket Academy, Razzaq said: "The PCB doctor has allowed me to play a full match since I have felt no problems with my calf despite bowling a good number of deliveries here and also during batting,” Razzaq said. “Though I did not bowl at full pace, I will increase the speed gradually to avoid any complication with the injury,” said the experienced all-rounder who has taken 100 wickets in Tests and 243 in the ODIs so far.

“Thanks to some proper care and medical treatment, I am able to resume my bowling today and am quite hopeful to be ready for the one-day series against South Africa next month,” he said. Razzaq said the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy match would help him in testing his match-fitness and if cleared by the doctor he would be available for the selection.

Both Razzaq and fellow all-rounder Shahid Afridi are being tipped to join the Pakistan team for the one-day series starting from Feb 4.
