KARACHI, Jan 22: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhary Nouraiz Shakoor on Monday inaugurated the Process Control Centre of the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR).

Speaking on the occasion, he said research and development in the world was at its best at present. After every three months, we have a new generation of new products. Many of us feel that a sense of direction is lacking and feeling of purpose is dwindling. There is a bankruptcy of ideas and decay of values in our society, though we have immense talent.

Stressing that education is a must for developing skills, awakening, awareness and utilising new human potentials for a better life, he said this could only be possible if our educational institutions were made centres of excellence and learning.

He noted that the PCSIR, a premier research institution of the country, had been striving to provide replacement for the costly state-of-the-art technology by the indigenously developed solutions. Scientists, technologists and engineers of this organisation are undertaking research in Science, Technology and Instrumentation at its respective research labs, he said.
