KARACHI, Jan 22: Sindh Adviser on Home Wasim Akhtar has taken strong notice of the murder of a bride, along with her uncle, on the night of her wedding on the charge of Karo-kari.

In a telephonic directive to the DPO of Shahdadkot, Rana Sanaullah, the adviser ordered that the arrested killer bridegroom, Mithal Chandio, should be taken to task and his two other accomplices, Sabz Ali and Shah Mohammed Chandio, be arrested forthwith.

Wasim Akhtar said Karo-kari was an obsolete and cowardly custom whereby innocent women were murdered. He said the elimination of this custom from Sindh was essential to stop killing of innocent women.

The adviser said that he should be immediately informed about the arrest of killers and no pressure in this regard be succumbed to. He said no hurdle, however major it may be, tolerated if it comes in the way of justice dispensation.

He requested the high court of Sindh that stringent punishments be awarded in cases involving uncivilised customs.—APP
