KARACHI, Jan 22: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has said that Karachi, the financial and industrial nerve centre of the country, is being developed on scientific lines and its business environment is conducive to investment in information technology, telecom, transport and water and power sectors in particular.

The governor expressed these views while talking to a 60-member Japanese trade delegation which called on him on Monday. During the meeting they exchanged views about promotion of mutual trade between Pakistan and Japan, and for Japanese investment in Karachi and Sindh.

Ibad explained the government policies and assured the Japanese entrepreneurs of provision of every facility and cooperation. He also highlighted the impact of the federal government policy of deregulation and privatisation which had improved the overall economic performance.

Pointing out that Karachi was one of the 12 mega cities of the world where business environment was attractive and already Japanese companies were assisting the government in improving its transport sector the governor said that Pakistan despite front state in the war against terrorism had been pursuing vibrant economic policies.

He pointed out that the Sindh province was rich in natural resources and 60 per cent of its gas requirement was being met from the gas being produced in Sindh.

Japanese Ambassador speaking on this occasion recalled the good friendly relations between the two countries and hoped that with the visit of the delegation would further help in promoting mutual trade relations and also give boost to the economic ties.
