LAHORE, Jan 20: Nine teams will take part in the Aibak Cup polo, one of the most prestigious competitions of the Lahore Polo Club, starting from Monday. Secretary Lahore Polo Club, Irfan Ali Hyder, told a press conference that Aibak Cup polo was a regular event of the LPC for the last 30 years and it was the country's fourth most coveted competition.
Bank Alfalah will defend their title as they have already registered their team.
Mr Irfan, pointed out that the tournament would be extremely competitive as 13 foreign top players would be representing different teams.
He said nine players from Argentina and two each from India and England have confirmed their participation to play for various teams.
The Aibak Cup was named after the Indian King Sultan Qutub-ud-Din Aibak, who was a fine polo player himself.
He said the tournament was a 14-goal event.
He said the LPC had turned out to become the finest polo club of the country with a large number of foreign players enjoying the game adding that the club had 450 polo horses.
