MIANWALI, Jan 11: The tehsil municipal administration has received tenders for many projects which are already under way, pointing to the irregularities by the TMA officials. The administration got the tenders for eleven projects worth Rs21.392 million and, it is learnt, seven of the projects (worth Rs11.588 million) are already going on in the district.

Speaking to Dawn, TMO Arif Tufail said the administration had completed the legal requirements for tenders on Thursday. He, however, refused to comment on the already launched works.

A clerk of a local government department, who had recently lodged complaint with the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment director-general against irregularities in TMA projects, was sacked by Tehsil Nazim Amjad Ali Khan. Subsequently, the local ACE in-charge, Ijaz Magsi, visited the sites for projects and sent his report to high-ups to take further action.

It is learnt that the tehsil nazim’s gunman had thrashed and humiliated complainant Muhammad Asif Hayat the other day.

When contacted, tehsil nazim Amjad Ali Khan denied the allegations and said the tenders for the ongoing projects had been received much earlier and now fresh tenders had been invited as the budget had been revised.

He said all projects were being carried out on public demand and there was no irregularity involved.
