KARACHI, Jan 11: A meeting of the Karachi Coordination Committee (KCC) of Pakistan Peoples Party discussed strategy for the NA-250 bye-election in Karachi. The participants termed the bye-election as a test case that would prove how serious was the government about it’s commitment to hold free and fair elections.

These views were expressed in the meeting held at Bilawal House on Wednesday. The KCC chief, Aftab Shahban Mirani, presided over the meeting. Others who attended the meeting included Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Nawab Yousuf Talpur, Taj Haider, Professor N. D. Khan, Nafis Siddiqui, Kamal Azfar and Rashid Rabbani.

The meeting’s participants reiterated that the PPP was against all forms of terrorism and believed only in the power of the ballot. However, they warned that the party would resist all attempts to rig the bye-elections. The meeting also asked the government to maintain law and order in Karachi during, before and after the elections.
