LAHORE, Jan 10: All-rounder Abdul Razzaq, who was forced to miss the current Pakistan tour to South Africa due to a nagging calf-injury, will resume light running and execise from Friday.

Razzaq told Dawn on Wednesday that the PCB doctor had allowed him to start light training and running from this week and “if everything goes well I should be able to also start bowling from Monday,” said the seasoned all-rounder.

Though Razzaq has missed out on Tests, he is hoping to join the Pakistan team for the one-day series against the Proteas which commences in February.

"I hope I will be fit before the start of the one-day series. I was also eager for the Tests but the calf-injury prevented me," he said.

Asked if he was planning to play in any of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy matches to test his match-fitness, Razzaq said at the moment he was only allowed to have bowling sessions at the National Cricket Academy and the latest medical report will decided about his future.

Commenting on Pakistan’s chances in the Test series against South Africa, Razzaq said though the home team had the advantages of home condition, Pakistan were still capable of beating them. "Our pace attack is strong and I think it will play an important role in the series," he said.
