Khurshid helps Army triumph

LAHORE, Jan 10: Khurshid Ahmed helped Army stage a comeback to defeat Data Hybrid Corn in the Warid Polo Cup here on Wednesday. Data Hybrid Corn having two-goal handicap led the first chukker 4 - 2.

Ahmed Zubair added two goals to the handicap for the losers. Khurshid, who scored four, struck his first while his team-mate Omar Minhas scored one.

After no goal in the second chukker, Army started to recover from the third chukker.

Asif Zahoor converted a 60-yard penalty hit to reduce the margin to 4-3. But Khurshid back-to-back goals in the fourth chukker sealed the fate of the match.

Two-goal Indian Samir Suhag helped Guard Rice earn 4 - 3½ win against No Sponsor in another well contested match of the day.

The half-goal handicap helped No Sponsor led the first chukker 1½ - 1.

Shah Qubilai Alam scored for the losers while Samir banged home his first, converting a 30-yard penalty hit.

Usman Haye increased the lead of No Sponsor to 2½ - 1 in the second chukker by scoring the solitary goal on field attempt.

Maintaining the lead in the third chukker, the losers came out with 3½ - 2 lead with Hissam Ali Hyder finding the net. Raja Samiullah scored for the winners.

The fourth chukker saw Guard Rice bouncing back scoring back-to-back goals through Samir and Taimur Mawaz Khan to complete a stunning win.
