PWF announces activity programme

LAHORE, Jan 9: Pakistan will compete in the World weightlifting championship, besides other five international competitions of different age categories in year 2007.

The World championship is scheduled to be held at Chiang Mai, Thailand from Sept 15 to 24.

The decision was taken in the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation general council meeting held on Tuesday.

The other international activities are the Islamic countries championship to be held in Tehran, Iran from March 2 to 5, Asian Senior championship in Taian, China from April 24 to 28, Junior World championship in Prague, Czech Republic from June 7 to 16, Youth Asian championship in Hyderabad, India from Nov 22 to 29 and University world championship in Lima, Peru from June 28 to July 2.

Besides, the federation will also hold different competitions in the country in the year.

Among those are Inter-district competition at all provincial headquarters in Jan, national games in Karachi from Feb 11 to 17, national junior ranking championship in Lahore on March 23 and 24, national senior championship in Lahore from April 12 to 14, Inter-provincial championship in Quetta from Oct 19 and Quaid-i-Azam national championship in Rawalpindi from Dec 27.
