KARACHI, Jan 9: The National Workers Party has backed the protest strike call for January 10 against illegal sale of islands of Sindh and has appealed to people to record their protest by joining the peaceful strike.
NWP leaders Yusuf Masti Khan, Usman Baloch and Akhtar Hussain condemned the government move and said the islands were being sold out to foreigners without considering its implications. They said this unwise decision would not only deprive thousands of fishermen from their bread and butter but also a conspiracy to stake the defence of the country and an attack on provincial autonomy.
The NWP leaders also condemned the massive privatisation and warned that if the rulers would not desist from privatisation of national assets at a throw away prices, the workers would be compelled to rise against the government.
