KARACHI, Jan 9: Admissions to first year BA, BSc and BCom (pass) will commence on January 15 with the issuance of forms and continue till February 10.

This was decided at a meeting of the principals of degree colleges affiliated with the University of Karachi, presided over by KU pro-vice-chancellor Dr Akhlaq Ahmed on Tuesday.

The meeting further decided that the KU Affiliation Committee members would visit affiliated colleges to ascertain availability of teaching facilities including faculty, labs, equipment and in case of any deficiency, would take up the issue with the higher authorities including the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

It was decided that classes at city degree colleges would commence from February 1 while first year students would start their studies on completion of their admissions in mid of February 2007.

It further agreed that colleges would submit list of students granted admissions to KU by February 15 while schedule of acceptance of admission fee with late fee was also finalised.

The meeting also finalized the schedule of enrolment of newly admitted students with KU on regular as well as late fee. It was decided that students who had passed any exams equivalent to HSC must submit their equivalence certificate issued by the Intermediate Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC).—PPI
