VEHARI, Jan 8: The Punjab government has approved a Rs120 million grant for the ‘SlowLearner’ programme for the special children in 35 districts of the Punjab. For this purpose, the special education secretary issued directives to DCOs of respective districts on Monday.

The required amount has also been released and forwarded to DCOs throughout Punjab. In Vehari district, about Rs5 million would be spent on this programme.

According to the Vehari DCO office, the `SlowLearner` programme was being started for the children having weak IQ level across the province.

SUSPENDED: The local General Post Office (GPO) has suspended a postman for negligence and transferred several others on complaints of delay in delivering telephone bills in their respective areas.

Post office in charge Jamil Mujahid told Dawn that the step was taken on the orders of the Divisional Superintendent, Multan, after the postmen were found guilty in an inquiry.
