SHIKARPUR, Jan 8: Two men and a woman fell prey to running disputes among different groups in the district on Monday. Reports reaching here said that Mohammad Yaqoob Gopang and Ms. Imamzadi Lohar Baloch were killed when an armed group attacked Samandar Khan Gopang village in the jurisdiction of Nabi Shah Wagan police station, Garhi Yasin taluka in the wee hours.

Area people blamed the attack on an ongoing dispute between Gopang and Jakhrani groups.

In another incident Sanaullah alias Sani Marfani, 24, was killed when 14 armed people attacked villagers busy in threshing paddy in their encampment near Mehboob Jo Khooh village in Hamayoon police station’s area, reports said. Villagers said that the attack was an offshoot of a running dispute between Gopang and Bakhrani-Issani people.

Police have registered a case against 14 men including Mithal Bakhrani, Mehboob Bakhrani, Gulsher Bakhrani, Manthar Issani and Shahzadi Issani.

DBA ELECTIONS: Noor Mohammad Soomro was elected president by securing 64 votes, Advocate Mohammad Ali Baloch vice-president and Gada Hussain Lohar Baloch general secretary in the annual elections of District Bar Association on Sunday.

Senior Advocate Gul Mohammad Unnar supervised the polls.

The offices of joint secretary, treasurer and members of executive committee had already been filled after candidates won seats unopposed.
