Kashif hammers gutsy century

Published January 7, 2007

KARACHI, Jan 6: Despite a fighting century by Kashif Siddique, Lahore Ravi were bowled for 265 in their first innings against hosts Hyderabad on the opening day of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Silver League fixture at the Niaz Stadium on Saturday.

Electing to bat first, Lahore Ravi looked on course for a significant total when the left-handed Kashif, who hit 102 off 195 balls with 12 boundaries, and Adnan Raza shared a third-wicket partnership of 108.

But following the dismissal of Adnan for 54, the rest crumbled against the pace-cum-spin attack of Hyderabad. Off-spinner Nasir Awais and slow left-armer Nauman Ali claimed three wickets apiece.

Hyderabad, however, found themselves in bother as they went to stumps at 28 for two in reply.
