JACOBABAD, Jan 5: Armed men kidnapped four people from the jurisdiction of Garhi Khairo police station on Friday. According to reports reaching here, they were identified as Illahi Bux Dahani, Jamil Dahani, Shahbaz and Haji Dahani (Buledi) who were intercepted and later kidnapped by armed men while they were coming towards Garhi Khairo from their village along with the tractor loaded with grain. The incident took place near a petrol outlet. The DPO of Jacobabad, Munir Ahmed Khurho, TPO Ghulam Murtaza Mirani, along with a heavy police contingent, rushed on the site and cordoned off the area. No FIR was lodged till the filing of this report.
When contacted, the DPO claimed that the kidnapping was the result of an old enmity and the kidnapped men have returned to their homes. However, no independent source confirmed DPO’s claim.
ST PROCESSION: The activists of the Sunni Tehrik took out a procession here on Friday to protest against an attack on the ST office in Karachi on the second day of Eidul Azha. The procession started from Quaid-i-Azam Road and, after marching through different roads of city, reached outside the Jacobabad Press Club where the participants staged a sit-in for an hour.
Speaking on the occasion, Jacobabad district ST president Dodo Khan, Khair Mohammad Ghunjro, Mashooq Malghani and others alleged that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement workers had attacked the ST office in Karachi and injured its secretary-general Furqan Ali.
They called for early arrest of the accused.
The ST leaders also condemned the execution of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussain.
