NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Jan 5: Annoyed by continued low gas pressure, a large number of people came out on the streets of Kandiaro and staged a demonstration against the Sui Southern Gas Company on Friday.

Led by engineer Ashraf Zaman Ujjan, former naib nazim of UC Kandiaro, Aslam Kaimkhani, councillor Abdul Hameed Memon, Zafar Khoso of PPP-SB and president of the general shop association, Sikandar Depar, the rally was taken out from Memon Mohalla chowk which after marching on different roads, converged outside the Mukhtiarkar office where they staged a sit-in for about an hour.

Complaining about low gas pressure, they said sometime even gas supply remains cut-off creating hardship for women. Later, they reached Star chowk on the National Highway where they burnt tyres, blocked the highway for about one hour. They demanded of the SSGC authorities to intervene and restore pressure of gas. No SSGC official reached at the place of protest. The protesters warned that they would again block the National Highway if the gas pressure was not normalised by Monday.

When contacted, the executive engineer of SSGC, Arz Mohammad Larik, admitted that pressure of gas was low which would take six months to become normalise. He said that work on a new gas line was going on and when this line via Sadhoja and Darya Khan Mari will be separated, there will be no complaint of low pressure.

UNTRACED: The relatives of the Office Superintendent in the EDO education secretariat, in Naushahro Feroze, have feared for his life and three others who were arrested by the police two days ago.

A large number of people of Khoso community led by Abdul Sattar Khoso, Abdul Shakoor Khoso, Irshad and Inayat Khoso staged a demonstration at hospital road Kandiaro.

They alleged that Naushahro Feroze police raided and arrested Abdul Jabbar and three other relatives.
