OKARA, Jan 4: A mother and her daughter committed suicide over a divorce issue on Thursday. Schoolteacher Nuzhat had contracted a love marriage with Tayyab whose mother was opposed to the match. She wanted her son to divorce his wife. In the meanwhile, a baby girl was born to the couple. Tayyab’s mother again pressured her son to divorce her. This time he bowed to his mother’s demand, divorced Nuzhat and took the baby from her. Dejected Nuzhat and her mother Zubaida Bibi took poison. Nuzhat died at home while her mother breathed her last in hospital. The DPO has ordered inquiry.
