KHAIRPUR, Jan 4: A woman and a man were killed near Jamal Narejo village in the Kot Mir Mohammad area on Thursday. Four unidentified armed men shot Razia and Deedar Ali dead when they were working in their fields.

The motive behind the incident is said to be a dispute over agricultural land.

CANAL BREACH: A large number of people held a protest demonstration in Mithri on Thursday against negligence of irrigation officials causing a canal breach.

Mohbat Wah, fed from Mirwah Canal, developed a 40-feet wide breach near Mithri on Wednesday night, inundating wheat and other crops and date orchards over a large area.

People’s Party Parliamentarians’ MPA Nawab Wassan reached at the place of breach where local people were busy in plugging the breach.

Later, Mr Wassan told reporters that a government hospital, a school, a water supply scheme and a graveyard had been inundated due to the breach.
