NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Jan 4: Members of the Kandiaro Taluka Bar Association boycotted court proceedings and held a protest meeting on Thursday, demanding transfer of the Naushahro Feroze DPO for insulting lawyers at a meeting in his office on Wednesday.

The lawyers, led by Illahi Bux Jamali, also staged a demonstration on the court premises.

They said that a delegation of lawyers from Kandiaro met District Police Officer Irfan Baloch on Wednesday and demanded that name of Mr Jamali be deleted from the First Investigation Report pertaining to the killing constable Ghulam Asghar Jamali in Sher Mohammad Jamali village.

They said that the constable was killed with the bullet of another policeman who had gone to the village with him to escort Wapda officials.

However, the DPO did not agree with the lawyers and insulted them, they said.

The lawyers said that they were going to lodge a suit for damages against the DPO.

When contacted, the district police officer alleged that Mr Jamali was involved in seven criminal cases under section 302, 353, 147, 148, 337-F (ii) and 324 of the PPC and S-26 of the Forest Act registered with the Hassan Shaheed police.

The DPO said that he was going to send a letter to the Sindh Bar Council to seek cancellation of advocate Jamali's license.
