KARACHI, Jan 4: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal MNAs Mohammad Hussain Mahenti and Laeeq Khan on Thursday expressed grave concern over the raise in power tariff and the countrywide power loadshedding plan.

In a joint statement issued here on Thursday, they deplored that the rulers, talking of enlightened moderation, had resorted to pushing the country into darkness through the loadshedding.

“On the one hand, they are making tall claims of alleviating poverty and bringing down prices, and, on the other, they were pushing up prices of essential commodities continuously.”

The legislators described the raise in power tariff and loadshedding as ‘enmity with people’, and pointed out that the KESC’s performance was worsening despite its privatisation. They alleged that the KESC was taking these anti-people steps in a bid to cover up its negligence.

They demanded immediate withdrawal of the raise in power tariff and the plan for loadshedding.—PPI
