Pele’s son released from prison

SAO PAULO, Dec 30: Edson do Nascimento, son of Brazilian football legend Pele, has been handed a conditional release from prison where he has spent 10 months on suspicion of money laundering, his lawyer said.

'Edinho' has been in the Tremembe jail since February, and also spent six months in jail for drug trafficking last year which ended with a conditional release.

His lawyer Sidney Goncalves has insisted that his client's latest detention was an “abuse” of his rights and had come without any proof.

Edinho is a former footballer with the Santos club, where Pele also played.
