KARACHI, Dec 29: The Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) has started repair and improvement works in DHA in the aftermath of the damage caused to the civic infrastructure during the recent torrential rains.

A spokesman said the CBC in coordination with DHA was also repairing and upgrading the sewerage and drainage systems as well as it had also embarked on undertaking repair and improvement of damaged roads at a cost of Rs142 million. “The tenders for construction have already been awarded to various reputable contractors/firms and work on the project will commence after the Eid holidays,” he added.

The roads being widened and re-carpeted include South Park Avenue and 7th Central Street DHA Phase II, commercial streets and Sunset Lanes DHA Ph-II, 26th Lane and adjoining Streets DHA Ph-VII, Gizri Streets and Commercial Streets DHA Phase IV, the streets between Khayaban-e-Hilal and Khayaban-e-Badar DHA Phase VI, the streets between Khayaban-e-Rahat and Khayaban-e-Sehr DHA Phase VII and the streets along Khayaban-e-Bukhari, Khayaban-e-Muslim, Khayaban-e-Muhafiz and Khayaban-e-Rahat in DHA Phase VI.

The civil works also include construction of lanes from Khayaban-e-Bahria to Khayaban-e-Hilal and between Khayaban-e-Badar and Hilal and in DHA Ph-VI, re-carpeting of Khayaban-e-Saadi with link roads in DHA Phase VII, improvement of streets from Khayaban-e-Mujahid to Khayaban-e-Badar Commercial in DHA Phase V, re-carpeting and revamping of various lanes and commercial streets in DHA Ph-VII, improvement of lanes along Khayaban-e-Sahar, Khayaban-e-Jami and Khayaban-e-Badban in DHA Ph-VII and Khayaban-e-Mujahid from 26th Street to Khayaban-e-Saba in DHA Ph-V.
