Code of conduct for tourists stressed

Published December 29, 2006

ISLAMABAD, Dec 28: Federal Minister for Tourism Nilofar Bakhtiar stressed the need for making concerted efforts to devise code of conduct for tourists besides bringing improvement in road-access to tourist sites, specially in the Northern Areas, to keep beauty of these areas intact and encourage people to visit them conveniently.

Ms Bakhtiar was speaking at a meeting held here to review development activities being taken for tourism promotion in the Northern Areas.

She said Northern Areas were shrouded in natural beauty, keeping in view the long series of mountains, green valleys coloured with breathtaking beauty, should not be diminished by waste materials or through environment degradation, so effective mechanism like code of conduct was necessary to be put in place to achieve the objective of tourism promotion.—APP
