LAHORE, Dec 28: The Punjab Housing Department approved on Thursday the development of five new housing schemes on government’s land in Layyah, Joharabad, Kalorkot, Quaidabad and Darya Khan.

The housing scheme in Layyah will be developed on 64 acres, Joharabad 25 acres, Kalorkot 23.5 acres, Quaidabad 26.5 acres and Darya Khan on 20 acres. All schemes will be developed on the land belonging to the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency.

The schemes were approved at a meeting held with Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Syed Raza Ali Gilani in chair and attended by the housing director general and representatives of Finance, Planning and Development and Colonies departments. The minister said 75 percent of plots would be of five marla and would be sold on a no-profit-no-loss basis.

The meeting also discussed the progress of work on development of 100 acres housing schemes on Sundar Road in Lahore and Chakri Road in Rawalpindi.
