ISLAMABAD, Dec 28: The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has notified zero-rating of sales tax on import and local supply of CNG buses and purpose-built taxis. The decision was announced through a sales tax notification (SRO1270 of 2006) issued here on Thursday.

The exemption will be available on the dedicated CNG buses and all other buses meant for transportation of 40 or more passengers, whether in CBU or CKD condition.

It would also cover purpose-built taxis, whether in CBU or CKD condition, which are built on girder chassis and having the following features, namely: attack resistance central division along with payment tray; wheelchair compartment with folding ramp; and taximeter and two-way radio system.
